In a recent interview, Josh Homme, the vocalist of Queens Of The Stone Age and drummer of Eagles Of Death Metal, opened up about his recent cancer diagnosis and surgery.

While discussing various topics such as new music and a custody battle with his ex-wife Brody Dalle of The Distillers, Homme shared details about his health struggles in 2022.

Homme revealed that he received a cancer diagnosis last year, although he didn't delve into specific details. However, he did disclose to Revolver that he underwent a successful surgery to remove it and is currently in the process of recovery.

"I never claim that things can't get any worse. I never say that, and I wouldn't recommend it," Homme stated. "But I do believe that things can improve."

He further remarked, "Cancer is just an additional challenge during this interesting period of time, you know? I'm incredibly grateful that I will overcome this, and I will reflect on it as something that was difficult but ultimately made me stronger. I'm at peace with that."

"There are numerous things I aspire to accomplish, and countless individuals I wish to collaborate with."

Music served as a solace for the singer during the frightening times surrounding his diagnosis and subsequent surgery. Homme expressed, "I have nothing against therapy. It's just that I find solace in playing music instead."

"Throughout the past few years, I've engaged in therapy extensively, but ultimately, I have discovered my own path forward through the medium I consider my religion—music."

Continuing, Homme stated, "These past four years have been the darkest period of my life. However, that's alright too."

"Within the heartaches, my mistakes, the losses I've endured, and the physical struggles I'm facing, despite all the destruction that has taken place and shattered my previous existence, I have been able to assemble those fragments into a vessel that is on the verge of setting sail. I will embark on my new life, propelled by those very pieces."

Homme's transformation of fear into art materialized in the form of the new album by Queens Of The Stone Age, titled "In Times New Roman…". Additionally, he will be returning to Australia and New Zealand in July and August for Eagles Of Death Metal's first performances in the region since 2016. Further information regarding these shows can be found here.

The album "In Times New Roman..." will be released this Friday, June 16!

Homme, along with his bandmates Troy Van Leeuwen, Dean Fertita, Michael Shuman, and Jon Theodore, united to create "the sound of a band crafting the music its own members desire while offering the rest of us a sonic gathering place" on this new album.

"In Times New Roman..." was recorded and mixed at Homme's own Pink Duck Studios (RIP), with additional recording taking place at Shangri-La. The album was produced by Queens Of The Stone Age and mixed by Mark Rankin. Physical copies of the album can be pre-ordered, or it can be pre-saved using the provided link.
