The Black Caps players are backing Martin Guptill to the hilt.

The opener's under immense pressure to find some form before the World Cup begins, averaging just over 20 in the series win over Sri Lanka.

He scored his third duck of the series in the 34-run defeat in Wellington.

Stand-in captain Kane Williamson says they will stick by him.

"He's a quality player, Martin, and he can be very destructive at the top of the order. When the ball's swinging late like that it can be tough and you can get out early but we know if he gets in he can be very destructive."

The Black Caps now face Pakistan in two ODIs.
