Brendon McCullum has made a spectacular home debut for Birmingham in English cricket's Twenty20 competition.

The Black Caps captain has struck an unbeaten 158 from just 64 balls, smashing 13 fours and 11 sixes, to help Birmingham amass 242 for two against Derbyshire at Edgbaston.

It's the second highest score in Twenty20 history and equals the then record 158 not out he scored in the opening game of the Indian Premier League in 2008.

His knock for Birmingham has come off nine fewer balls and it was only his lack of strike which denied him a chance of surpassing Chris Gayle's record 175.

For the record, Birmingham dismissed Derbyshire for 182 to win by 60 runs.
