There are assurances that Brendon McCullum's rest period will be carefully calculated by the Black Caps coaching staff.

The captain is expected to sit out one of the next three one-dayers ahead of the Cricket World Cup.

All-rounder Grant Elliott says they won't make fleeting changes.

He says there's a lot of analysis that goes into a decision like that.

The Black Caps face Sri Lanka in the seventh and final one-dayer in Wellington today.

Play is scheduled to start at 2pm, with fine weather forecast for the capital.
