Racing Metro has missed out on Charlie Faumuina, but it may have landed another New Zealand prop.

Faumuina has knocked back interest from the French Top 14 club to re-sign with New Zealand Rugby through until 2017.

But Racing Metro has reportedly signed Chiefs prop Ben Tameifuna.

New Zealand Rugby CEO Steve Tew says a number of their players are receiving offers from France.

"I don't jump up and down over every headline that comes out of France, because they are good at headlines, but we'll lose some more players, no question about that, but we'll work really hard to keep the players we really want."

Steve Tew says they want their likely World Cup players to make early decisions.

"Ultimately it's up to the players, our contracting work is a 12 month exercise, and we are constantly talking to all of our players."

Steve Tew says there's likely to be a larger All Blacks exodus after this year's World Cup because they have a senior squad.
