1. Why is the station called Hauraki?
Radio Hauraki is named after the Hauraki Gulf, where the station famously broadcast from as a pirate radio station in 1966. Broadcasting from a ship anchored just outside New Zealand's territorial waters, Radio Hauraki challenged the state radio monopoly and helped pave the way for commercial radio in New Zealand.

6. Who are the hosts?
We've got the best of the best on Hauraki.
Allegedly NZ’s funniest breakfast radio show… are Jeremy Wells & Manaia Stewart from 6am - 9am weekdays.
Bec Sandy's is our Hauraki Day host - Bec loves her Rock music, loves her sport, and always up for a yarn. Most recently Bec won a Radio Award for best new radio host! You can catch her on air from 10am-2pm Weekdays.
Afternoons are with Hauraki's resident music expert Greg Prebble who dishes up a delicious music mix. You can hear him weekdays at 2pm-4pm. All bangers no clangers guaranteed!
The Hauraki Big show with Jason Hoyte, Mike Minogue & Keyzie drive you home; with plenty of laughs and larger-than-life yarns, The Big Show is a great way to finish the day. Listen from 4pm - 7pm weekdays.
Several familiar Radio Hauraki voices regularly feature across The Alternative Commentary Collective (ACC), especially during live sport coverage and special broadcasts.
Key recurring contributors include Jeremy Wells, Manaia Stewart, Mike Minogue, Chris Key, and Jason Hoyte. These voices pop up across ACC radio, podcasts, and live event coverage, bringing their usual mix of humour, sports chat, and chaos to the commentary box.
The lineup can vary depending on the event, but if you’re listening to ACC coverage through Hauraki, you’ll often hear a mix of these regulars throughout the season.

7. How do I enter Hauraki competitions?
Play Hauraki the radio station loud and listen out for cue to calls and visit our win page frequently to register for competitions. Plus, make sure you're following Radio Hauraki on Facebook and Instagram because we give away prizes all the time.

8. How will I know if I’ve won a prize?
- If you won a prize on air, Radio Hauraki will send you a text. Follow the prompts in the text to claim your prize.
- If you won a prize on social media, the official Radio Hauraki account will send you a message.
- We will never ask you for your credit card information - please be aware of scams.
9. I'm a prize winner, where is my prize?
- Please note that most prizes take approx. 14 days to arrive.
- If a prize has not arrived in this timeframe, or you have a problem with one that's arrived, you can email us at [email protected]
- Please do not e-mail us chasing a prize until after the 14-day mark - unless you have not received a confirmation message with a reference number.
- Please do not e-mail our generic e-mail address with prize enquiries.

10. Can I enter if I live outside Auckland/Wellington?
Yes! You can win a competition no matter where you are in Aotearoa. Sometimes we even fly listeners to the main centres, or around the world.
11. Do I need to answer a call to win?
Sometimes! Each competition will explain how to win. Most of the time you will enter by texting us on 3483, entering a form online, or commenting on a post on social media to get in the draw. Other times, if you've given us your contact details, we may call you and you need to answer with a specific phrase or in a specific time frame to win.
12. How often do you run competitions?
All the time! At Radio Hauraki, we’re always hooking you up with chances to win. From merch and vinyls to concert tickets and unforgettable trips, it’s kind of our thing to give you prizes you’ll love.

13. Do you have playlists I can listen to?
Yeah, nah, we've got playlists. Heaps of them. On iHeartRadio. The big tracks, the deep cuts, stuff our lot actually listen to when nobody's watching. All sitting there on the free iHeartRadio app and online, ready to go.

14. How can I see what songs you've played?
Heard something on air and can't get it out of your head? Check out our recently played tracks right here. Not every song ever, we're not miracle workers but enough to figure out what that tune was.

15. Can I rewind or replay a live show?
Afraid not... We broadcast live, so there's no rewinding us. But the good news is a lot of our shows are available as podcasts, so you can catch up on the good stuff whenever you like.
Jeremy Wells, Manaia Stewart, Rooda, and Zoe present the Hauraki Breakfast podcasts. Two pods each weekday, full of banter, laughs, repartee, and a touch of nonsense.
The Big Show is packed with big laughs, unbelievable yarns and the kind of honest, no-nonsense chat that backbone Kiwis actually want to hear after a hard day's work. New episodes drop weekdays, so chuck it on and let these three sort you out.

23. Does Hauraki broadcast live sport?
Yes! Hauraki broadcasts live sport in partnership with The Alternative Commentary Collective (ACC), bringing a unique mix of live commentary, humour, and analysis to major sporting events.
