Noel Gallagher has admitted he was left gobsmacked after footage emerged of England players and fans singing Oasis' 'Wonderwall' during the 2026 World Cup.

The memorable moment took place on June 17th at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, following England's 4-2 victory against Croatia.

During an appearance on TalkSPORT on June 25th, the Oasis songwriter reflected on the viral sing-along, saying the track belongs to the people and that he simply couldn't believe what he was witnessing. He expressed particular surprise at one high-profile participant, saying he was "staggered" that Jude Bellingham knew the lyrics, after footage of the Real Madrid star joining in circulated widely online.

The song has surged by 50 per cent in streams over the past week according to Spotify, a fact his brother Liam enthusiastically celebrated on social media.

Gallagher also looked ahead to the possibility of England reaching the final, noting that his two sons (both England supporters) would be in attendance. He joked that between Manchester City's recent dominance and potentially watching England lift the World Cup trophy while their dad's song rang out around the stadium, their lives were already quite comfortable enough.

England captain Harry Kane described the sing-along as one of his favourite ever moments in an England shirt.
