South Auckland’s two-piece high-energy riff rock band, The Boondocks, are excited to announce the release of their latest single and music video, Bear With Me. The band, comprised of Scott Parker (vocals and bass) and Branden Pritchard (drums), promises an electrifying new chapter in their already impressive career. Listen Here
Bear With Me is a tribute to The Boondocks’ roots and inspirations, which include legends such as Royal Blood and Nirvana. Originally written in 2017 by Parker’s former band, the track has been resurrected and reimagined with a dynamic and polished sound, thanks to the creative contributions of producer Scott Seabright. The single also received funding from NZ On Air.
The accompanying music video, a hilarious and heartfelt tale of an unexpected connection with Bigfoot, is directed by Dave Thompson and brought to life by the Imaginary Friends team. Filmed with prosthetics, expert makeup artistry, and an elaborate Bigfoot costume, the video highlights the band’s commitment to creativity and fun. "Our mindset was, if we’re doing a music video, it has to be ridiculous," says Parker. And ridiculous it is — in the best possible way.
The Boondocks have already made waves on the New Zealand rock scene. All six of their previous singles have charted, with fan-favourites Bombs, Sticks and Stones, and Black Taxi enjoying extensive runs on the NZ charts. Their 2024 self-titled EP saw Black Taxi become their most successful track to date, racking up over 28,000 streams. Tracks Sticks and Stones and Black Taxi also made it onto the 2024 Rock 2000 Countdown.
