Wellington four-piece DARTZ are back with their first single in over a year, and they’re not
sticking around. Moving To Melbourne sees “the band from
Wellington, New Zealand” refining their pub-punk stomp into a tight, punchy rock groove,
delivering an anthemic send-off for a generation in search of greener pastures.
With the razor-sharp lyricism and trademark satirical bite of frontman Danz, Moving To
Melbourne takes aim at Aotearoa’s snowballing population exodus.
The track comes alongside a music video directed by Joe Curtis, made with support from NZ On Air.
Fittingly, DARTZ will celebrate the release of Moving To Melbourne with release shows in
both Wellington and Melbourne, before embarking on a 30-plus date European tour across
Italy, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, France, and the UK. Fresh off multiple award
nominations for their 2024 classic Dangerous Day To Be A Cold One, this tour will mark
DARTZ’s largest worldwide endeavour yet.
As the boys gear up for their next chapter, Moving To Melbourne reaffirms DARTZ’s place
as New Zealand’s sharpest new rock voice: equal parts hilarious, heartfelt, and politically
charged. Whether you’re booking a one-way ticket or just shaking your head at the state of
things, this one’s for you.
