Before becoming the iconic bassist of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Flea actually started out on trumpet. Now, nearly 50 years into his career, he’s returning to his jazz roots with his first-ever solo album, Honora, out March 27.
The announcement comes with new single “Traffic Lights,” co-written with Thom Yorke and Josh Johnson, and paired with an animated video by Nespy5euro.
Named after a beloved family member, Honora was fully composed and arranged by Flea, who plays bass and trumpet across all 10 tracks. The album features an all-star lineup including Johnson, Jeff Parker, Anna Butterss, Deantoni Parks, and vocals from Yorke and Nick Cave.
Flea will take the album on the road starting May 7 in Chicago, with dates across the US, Canada, and Europe, wrapping up May 28 in Paris.
