AC/DC Drummer Appears In Court

AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd arrived late, winked at the media, drummed a rhythm on the dock and then sped away from court in a black sports car today.

The brief appearance in the High Court at Tauranga on drugs charges had a showbiz feel to it.

Reporter Georgia Nelson says the case started with an arrest warrant being issued for his non-appearance but that expired when he turned up five minutes later.

"Judge Timothy Brewer actually referred the matter to the District Court, because an earlier charge of attempting to procure murder had been dropped. the matter is actually no longer to be dealt with in the High Court."

Phil Rudd still faces charges of threatening to kill and possession of methamphetamine and cannabis and they'll be dealt with next Tuesday - December 2.
