Dave Mustaine isn't exactly known for his sense of humor, but you've got to give the Megadeth frontman credit for humility in a recent photo dump, shared by renowned rock photographer Ross Halfin.

Halfin is best known for his work with Metallica, Megadeth, Guns N' Roses, Soundgarden and many others. He is the author of the forthcoming coffee table book, Metallica: The Black Album In Black & White, due October 19, commemorating the 30th anniversary of Metallica's groundbreaking 1991 self-titled album in rare and never-before-seen photos.

While Mustaine was long-gone from Metallica (busy touring his own iconic heavy metal masterpiece) by 1991, Halfin sent him an advanced copy anyway.

To show his support for Halfin, Mustaine posed for some photos with the book, flipping through it from the toilet of his Tennessee studio, poking fun at his decades-long rivalry with Metallica.

Halfin shared the shots via Instagram, including one snap of an ominous note Mustaine wrote him, regarding the contents of the book.

"To Ross! Everything in this book is true...! ...So far!!"

Mustaine is currently leading 'The Metal Tour of the Year' with Megadeth, Lamb of God, Trivium and Hatebreed. Go here for tour dates.
