Singing certainly runs in the Vedder family. On Monday (August 16), Eddie Vedder's 17-year-old daughter Olivia officially released her first song, a haunting piano ballad called "My Father's Daughter."

The track was written by her dad and Glen Hansard and will be featured on the soundtrack for Sean Penn's upcoming movie, Flag Day.

“After this flood of gorgeous songs from Cat Power, Glen Hansard, and Eddie Vedder, we were just about to do a final mix on the film when Ed sent me Olivia singing ‘My Father’s Daughter,’" Penn explained in a statement. "It became just the perfect cherry on top of the sundae.”

Flag Day stars Penn and his son, Dylan Penn, as well as Josh Brolin, Norbert Leo Butz, Dale Dickey, Eddie Marsan, Bailey Noble, Hopper Jack Penn, and Katheryn Winnick. The film and soundtrack are both slated to come out on August 20.

This isn't the first time the Pearl Jam frontman and actor/director have teamed up. Vedder also contributed to the soundtrack for Penn's 2007 movie Into The Wild, which inspired his solo debut album of the same name and won him a Golden Globe for Best Song Motion Picture.
