March 8, 1994, marked a big day on Rock n Roll’s calendar with 2 of the biggest acts at the time both releasing what could be argued as their biggest albums on the same day.

Nine Inch Nails released the follow up to their debut album ‘The Downward Spiral’ which contained some of the band's biggest hits to date such as Closer, Hurt and March of the Pigs.

Selling over 4 million copies worldwide it's no surprise that Rolling Stone Magazine described it “Sonically ground breaking..” as well as placing it number #122 in their ‘500 Greatest Albums of All time’ countdown.

Across the other side of the states, over in Seattle, Grunge legends Soundgarden finished up touring with Lollapalooza and jumped into the studio to record their 4th Studio album ‘Superunknown’. The album boasts some of Soundgarden's biggest hits such as Black Hole Sun, Spoonman and Fell on Black Days. Superunknown helped propel the band to international recognition, and debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts, selling 2.5 million copies in its first year.

Between the 2 bands, they had 13 entrees in the G.O.A.T Countdown this year. Nine Inch Nails has 3 songs and Soundgarden with 10.
