Though Billie Joe Armstrong's performed some acoustic songs since the pandemic hit last March, it's been just about a year since the members of Green Day all took the stage together. Thankfully, that drought is coming to an end this weekend. The band recently announced it will be providing an "epic performance" during the NFL Honors awards ceremony on Saturday (February 6).

"Fired up to finally be back on stage!" the trio wrote in a tweet revealing their involvement.

NFL Honors airs February 6 (the day before the Super Bowl) at 9pm ET/PT on CBS. See Green Day's announcement below.

Green Day was supposed to be on the round with Weezer and Fall Out Boy for the Hella Mega Tour last year, before live music came to a screeching halt. Back in July, rescheduled dates were announced for summer 2021, and though it seems optimistic to think those shows will actually happen, Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo recently told NME he believes it's still going to happen.

"My manager just told me yesterday that the U.S. promoter is still saying it's gonna happen," he said. "That could change, but I'm not making any other plans for the summer."
