Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory may have officially turned 20 in October, but the they're not done celebrating that era. January 16, 2021 marked the 20th anniversary of the band performing "One Step Closer" on Late Night With Conan O'Brien, and to celebrate they dusted off the footage and uploaded it to their YouTube channel.

Last year, Linkin Park shared never before seen footage from the "One Step Closer" video shoot. In the clip, Chester Bennington explained why they chose the song to be Hybrid Theory's lead single. “The song itself is a very good representation of the group as far as the riffs and the power of the song, and the aggression of it," he said. "Lyrically, it’s just about being fed up, and expressing that angst we all feel."

In a different video, Mike Shinoda revealed a lyric in the song that Bennington wasn't sold on at first. “I think I came up with most of the verse and he [Chester] came up with most of the chorus," Shinoda revealed. "I had the idea for the bridge just saying 'shut up' and he was kinda like, 'uh, maybe… yeah, sure.'” Good thing he listened to his bandmate!
