Pete Doherty wants Jack White to produce The Libertines' next album.

The 35-year-old rocker has revealed the band - which he formed with Carl Barat in 1997 - are planning to release their third album in 2015 and has confessed he'd love The White Stripes star to help them with it.

Speaking on French TV station D8, he said: "Jack White says he'd like to do it. I'd love him to do it, it would be amazing, but I don't want to get too hopeful."

The Libertines - who have promised to play new material during their forthcoming UK and European gigs this month - have previously admitted to wanting their mooted third album to be "a little different".

Speaking during a festival appearance earlier this year, the band said they'd be debuting brand new tracks at their shows at London's Alexandra Palace in late September and spoke about how they wanted the new record to be "special".

Meanwhile, the band previously confessed that they only rehearsed for one hour prior to their sell-out show at London's Hyde Park earlier this summer.

Speaking about their comeback, Carl said at the time: "I'm not sure if it was a triumph but it was certainly unpredictable, as most things with this band always are."
