Rush drummer Neil Peart has died at age 67.

As per new reports, the musician passed away on Tuesday (January 7) in Santa Monica, California after secretly battling brain cancer for three years. A family spokesperson issued a statement on Friday, sharing the unfortunate news. Meanwhile, his death was also confirmed by a rep for the veteran rock band.

Beyond his lyrics, Peart was widely considered one of rock's best drummers. He joined Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson in Rush in 1974.
