A band has released a video turning their hit song into an anti-coronavirus tune.

The Knack, known for their hit song 'My Sharona', have released a video turning their song into an anti-coronavirus anthem called 'Bye Corona.'

The Knack's lead guitarist, Berton Averre, uploaded the video on YouTube.

"Some people have asked whether we were going to get around to doing our own 'Sharona' corona parody song, because apparently, there aren't enough of them."

Those who were expecting the band to repeatedly belt out the hook of the reinvented classic may be disappointed.

The frontman of the band Doug Fieger passed away in 2010. However, the band's bassist Prescott Niles steps and joins Averre via video to sing 'Bye Corona' at the end of the guitar solo.

"Sadly, our lead singer is no longer with us and trust me, you don't want to hear me croak it out," he says.

He even makes a point to sanitise his guitar throughout the video.

The band added that the streaming royalties for My Sharona will be donated to the Music Health Alliance.
