The Rolling Stones share haunting new song "Living In A Ghost Town"

The Rolling Stones have returned with a new song called "Living In A Ghost Town," and it resonates with the world as people stay home and practice social distancing during the current coronavirus pandemic, leaving streets across many cities empty and much like a ghost town.

"Living In A Ghost Town" was written by the iconic rock band's Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, created and recorded in Los Angeles and London — and as you might have guessed, completed while in isolation. In the music video, fans can hear Mick sing lyrics like, "Life was so beautiful then we all got locked down/ Feel like a ghost, living in a ghost town," while watching haunting images of empty cities across the world due to citizens staying in their homes amid the fight against COVID-19.

Jagger explained of the song on social media, "The Stones were in the studio recording new material before the lockdown, and one song - 'Living In A Ghost Town' - we thought would resonate through the times we’re living in."

Keith added in a video posted to Twitter, "Long story short, we cut this track well over a year ago, in LA I believe, part of a new album, you know, ongoing thing. And then sh*t hit the fan, and Mick and I decided that this one really needed to go to work right now."

"Living In A Ghost Town" is The Rolling Stones' first new material in eight years after sharing two new songs — "Doom and Gloom" and "One More Shot" — featured on their 2012 GRRR! greatest hits album.

The band recently took part in Global Citizen's "One World: Together at Home" special, during which they performed their 1968 song "You Can't Always Get What You Want," virtually, each from their respective homes.
