Prime Minister John Key has finally announced New Zealand’s involvement in the fight against the Islamic State jihadi group.

The announcement has been widely hinted at over the last few months.

The joint “training mission” with Australia will include up to 143 personnel being deployed to Camp Taji near Baghdad to train Iraqi special forces and other security personnel.

The deployment will be reviewed after nine months and will be for a maximum of two years.
