US Blogger Wants To Ban The Haka

An American blogger has started a campaign to ban the Haka, because she says it promotes domestic violence and rape culture.

In a video blog, Cassidy Boon says she was researching New Zealand, when she came across what she says is a disgusting tradition.

"Its called the Haka.. and its one of the most sexist things I've ever seen."

She's calling her campaign #BanTheHaka and said the tradition disgusts her.

"These people will literally stick their tongues out and make exaggerated masculine movements, that totally hint at domestic violence and rape. Its meant to assert dominance over women and scare us into submission."

She believes the tradition is the worst thing New Zealand could have given the rest of the world.

"I'm now starting a new hashtag campaign, called Ban the Haka. And I hope that it will end this stupid sexist dance forever."
