AB de Villiers Ruled Out Of BLACKCAPS Series

A major blow for South Africa ahead of the two test series against the Black Caps this month.

Skipper AB de Villiers has been ruled out the series with an elbow injury and Faf du Plessis will take over the captaincy.

Fast bowler Morne Morkel has also been sidelined, with a bulging disc in his back.

De Villiers says he's naturally disappointed to miss the series because he hasn't missed a Test through injury since his debut in 2004.

Seamer Vernon Philander makes a return to the Test squad for the first time in 10 months, while Dale Steyn has also been included after recovering from shoulder and groin problems.
