Pakistan expect Mohammad Amir to be the same bowler he was before his forced hiatus from international cricket.

The left-armer is poised to make his long-awaited return in the upcoming limited over series against the Black Caps, having served his five-year ban for spot fixing.

Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi faced Amir in the recent Bangladesh Premier League and says he's still the dangerous bowler many will remember.

"To me, he's still the same, doing a great job, he is performing well and behaving well."

Almost a third of the squad to face the Black Caps has yet to play five Twenty20 internationals for Pakistan, but Afridi is confident in his youthful side.

"I'm very excited to lead my team, it's full of talent and very energetic guys."

The first Twenty20 international between the two sides is at Eden Park on Friday night.
