Corey Anderson's international absence looks likely to end tomorrow.

Anderson appears a strong chance to play for the Black Caps in the first of two Twenty20s against Sri Lanka in Mount Maunganui.

He hasn't played for New Zealand since May last year due to an ongoing back problem.

He said he's played some matches for Northern Districts but will have to adjust.

"I've been out of the international game for a little while now, and the intensity is a lot more than it is in the domestic game, so I've got to get used to the surroundings and the environment again."

However, Anderson said he's raring to go.

"Watching the guys on the couch has been pretty tough at times, but it's nice to be back in the environment and to see the guys yesterday was pretty cool."

Anderson is in the T20 squad as a batsman only.
