Auckland have put on a try scoring clinic to thump Tasman in the first ITM Cup Premiership final.

Auckland have scored five tries to three to defeat the Makos 44-24 at Eden Park, and book their first final since 2012.

The home side led 20-3 at half time, before quick second half tries gave them a 34-3 lead.

Tasman tried to fight back towards the end, but a late try to George Moala put it out of reach.

Loose forward Joe Edwards said closeness and culture of the group has seen them make it this far.

Auckland will play the winner of tomorrow's Canterbury Taranaki final.
