The Blues have held on for a 36-30 win over the Melbourne Rebels in their Super Rugby match at Eden Park.

The home side outscored the Rebels six tries to four, but twice threw away sizable leads before sealing the win.

Trailing 36-18 with 25 minutes to play, the Rebels scored two quick late tries to cut the gap to six points.

However, despite venturing deep into Blues territory they couldn't find the converted try required to steal the match.

James Parsons, Jerome Kaino, Charlie Faumuina, Rieko Ioane, Tevita Li and Lolagi Visinia scored for the Blues.

They now head on the road to South Africa and Perth for three weeks.
