It appears seamer Trent Boult will be helped back into the Black Caps XI for tomorrow's ODI against Sri Lanka.

Boult has been rested for the previous four matches, but is part of the squad training in Mount Maunganui for the fifth and final match.

Batting coach Craig McMillan says now they need to get Boult back up to speed.

"It's been a heavy workload for a couple of guys in that seam attack over a period of time so it's important that we get him back to full fitness because we know what a potent weapon he is when he's fully fit."

McMillan says Brendon McCullum's back injury will be assessed tomorrow and the extent of Tim Southee's foot injury is still unknown.
