Doug Bracewell has replaced Mitchell McClenaghan in the Black Caps for the remainder of the one-day international series against Pakistan.

Bracewell will join up with the squad ahead of tomorrow's second ODI in Napier and will travel with the team to Auckland for the final match on Sunday.

McClenaghan's definitely out of the Napier match with an eye injury from being hit by a bouncer in Wellington and is unlikely to play at Eden Park.

He'll have surgery on Friday.

Coach Mike Hesson says they'll continue to monitor him over the coming days.

Corey Anderson is also on the road to recovery: the all-rounder returned to the bowling crease in the limited overs matches against Pakistan, but cramped up in the final T20 win in Wellington.

Anderson says he hopes to be able to bat, bowl and field in the tests next month.

"If I keep going the way I'm going then hopefully I can make myself available, I've just got to get through this next week and a half."
