The Chiefs have landed a big blow on the Crusaders, moving into pole position to finish atop the New Zealand conference with a 23-13 Super Rugby win in Suva.

A last minute penalty goal to Damian McKenzie denied the red and blacks a bonus point, after the Chiefs took control of the match with two first half tries.

Chiefs coach Dave Rennie cites the All Blacks experience in his side, particularly Brodie Retallick.

Retallick and Sam Cane started in the victory, while Aaron Cruden came off the bench for half an hour.

The Brumbies have consolidated their place on top of Super Rugby's Australian conference with a 43-24 bonus-point win over the Queensland Reds in Canberra.
