The voice of West Indian cricket has died.

Veteran commentator Tony Cozier has passed away at his home in Barbados after a short illness.

Cozier began writing on cricket as a teenager in 1958, and made his commentary debut during Australia's tour of the West Indies in 1965.

Through five decades, Cozier grew into an accomplished professional across different mediums all over the world.

The ICC said in a statement it's deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Cozier, and that he is one of the truly great voices of cricket.
