The International Cricket Council's hopes of dramatic reforms to international cricket have been delayed.

It's been proposed a new test world championship consisting of two divisions as well as changes to ODI and twenty20 competitions be adopted.

However, with Bangladesh and Sri Lanka voicing opposition to the changes to test cricket the ICC has announced at its annual meeting that they will instead hold a workshop in September to discuss the project.

ICC chief executive David Richardson acknowledges there's some work to be done.

He says the encouraging thing is members acknowledge something needs to be done for more meaningful cricket.

Meanwhile, the 2022 Commonwealth Games appears likely to feature women's cricket a, 24 years after men's cricket was played at Kuala Lumpur.
