The Black Caps' 2011 test win in Hobart lingers in Australian minds just as it does for New Zealand players and supporters.

The drought breaking test victory tied the series with Australia four years ago at Bellerive.

Opener David Warner admitted it would hurt if the Black Caps were able to level the series at one-all by winning the third test in Adelaide.

"We take those memories into this game you want to win every game you can, but it would mean a lot to us if we can get up here in Adelaide - a drawn series, I think we will consider that as a loss."

Warner concedes he would have liked a chance to bat under the lights at Adelaide Oval before the third test.

His New South Wales team played against South Australia with the pink ball late last month at the venue, but he didn't bat when the floodlights were on.

"We did see Mitchell Starc bowl very well when we came out here and played I think it was seven overs and the ball did swing around a bit but it was a different story when you're bowling 150 kilometres an hour so, look, in an ideal world we would love to have batted at night time."

Warner left the field during the side's training session yesterday with a left hand injury but returned to bat.

The Black Caps train for the first time at the venue today.
