A Fourie du Preez try in the dying stages has put South Africa into the Rugby World Cup semi-finals.

The Springboks have beaten Wales 23-19 in an incredibly tense quarter-final at Twickenham, with halfback du Preez scoring in the corner with just minutes remaining.

Wales led 19-18 inside the last ten minutes having earlier scored the only try of the match through Gareth Davies in the first half, with Dan Biggar kicking the rest of their points.

The boot of Handre Pollard with five penalties and a drop goal had kept the Springboks in touch.

But it was du Preez's try in the corner off a superb Duane Vermeulen pass that's put them into the final four and a semi-final meeting with either the All Blacks or France next weekend.
