The Illawarra Hawks have triumphed in a double overtime thriller against the Breakers in their ANBL match at Vector Arena.

The Breakers led by as many as 11 points in the fourth quarter and were up by three with seconds left, however the Hawks won 103-96 with the Breakers missing their last six shots in the final stages.

Coach Dean Vickerman is furious his players didn't foul like they always do in that situation.

"We broke a team rule, we had the opportunity to foul, that's what we do in that situation. We didn't and we paid the price for it."

The Breakers drop to fifth on the ladder.
