Friends of mountain bike free rider Kelly McGarry are heartbroken by the news of his sudden death yesterday.
He fell from his bike and suffered a medical event yesterday on Queenstown's Ben Lomond bike track - and died at the scene.
The 33 year old was a world renowned biker, who became an industry name after his historic Utah Canyon gap jump in 2013.Â
Friend Geoff Hunt says the loss of the most likeable biker in the business will be felt by everyone.
"Pushing a bike up a hill is not the way you'd expect so it's very sad, [he was] a fantastic skilled athlete, a really nice person and we were all devastated last night."
