Gautam Gambhir is back in India's test cricket set-up, two years after playing his last international.

He's been called into the squad for the remaining two tests against the Black Caps, replacing fellow opener Lokesh Rahul, who's been ruled with a hamstring injury.

Uncapped off-spinner Jayant Yadav has also been added to the Indian squad for this week's second test in Kolkata, with experienced fast bowler Ishant Sharma yet to fully recover from a virus.

Meanwhile Black Caps captain Kane Williamson has risen one place to second in the test batting rankings.

Williamson has moved a point ahead of England's Joe Root after scores of 75 and 25 in the first test against India.

Indian off-spinner Ravi Ashwin is up to second in the test bowling rankings after taking 10 wickets in Kanpur.

Ashwin remains comfortably atop the all-rounders table.
