A grim situation for the Black Caps after three days of the first cricket test against Australia.

Australia has a whopping 503 run lead, at 264 for four in the second innings.

Openers Joe Burns and David Warner both scored centuries in the final session of the day, out for 129 and 116 respectively.

Kane Williamson has been the only shining light for New Zealand, making a masterful 140 runs in the Black Caps' first innings total of 317.

414 runs have been scored on day three.
