The Highlanders have scored three second half tries to secure a 34-15 win over the Lions in Dunedin.

Matt Faddes opened the try scoring in the 25th minute and that helped the hosts lead 10-3 at halftime.

But, the turning point came in the first five minutes of the second half, when Ben Smith scored from a quick throw in while Faddes bagged his second moments later through an intercept.

Malakai Fekitoa then put the result beyond doubt with a try of his own moments later, but the Lions scored twice in the final 20 minutes to take the bonus point away from the Highlanders.

It puts the southerners at the top of the New Zealand Conference, at least for now, with their second win of the season.
