Still battling through the pain of an ANBL Grand Final loss, the Breakers must already turn their attention to next season.

With general manager Richard Clarke and coach Dean Vickerman leaving the franchise, Dillon Boucher and Paul Henare have plenty of work to do with only three players on contract.

The NBA's Summer League has been a crucial part of scouting in previous years, but the tournament falls around the time Henare will be leading the Tall Blacks in their Olympic qualification campaign.

Vickerman said Henare will have to rely on one of their behind the scenes guys.

"The club employs a scout in the States, so he's got all our imports for pretty much the last 10 years."

"If he didn't recommend them, then at least he knew someone that we were able to contact and talk about them."

Dean Vickerman said he hasn't decided on what is next up for him.

Joining the club in 2007 as an assistant, Vickerman leaves having won three championships as an assistant and one as a head coach.

This year's loss to Perth is the only time Vickerman has experienced defeat in the Grand Final.

He said that feeling won't last and certainly won't trump the good times.

"It's still going to take some time. All I know is that I'm so fortunate to have been able to lead this club through an amazing time for basketball in this country."
