The Wallabies have scraped into the Rugby World Cup semi finals with a last minute Bernard Foley penalty to beat Scotland 35-34 at Twickenham.

Australia trailed 16-15 at half-time but scored five tries to three.

A Mark Bennett intercept try had given Scotland the lead with four minutes on the clock, but Foley kept his cool to slot the last gasp penalty for the Wallabies.

Meanwhile Argentina have powered their way in the Rugby World Cup semi-finals with a 43-20 win over Ireland in Cardiff.

The Pumas led 20-3 midway through the first half before Ireland clawed their way back to trail by just three into the final quarter.

But converted tries to Joaquin Tucalet and Juan Imhoff secured Los Pumas a spot in the semi-finals for just the 2nd time in Rugby World Cup history.

It sets up a semi final lineup that only contains Southern Hemisphere teams.
