The NRL's plans to give rugby league a shakeup will be unveiled today.

The axing of the under-20s competition by the end of 2017, increased leave for players and a set international window are all part of the changes.

Head of Game Strategy and Development Shane Richardson will show his blueprint that is sure to please and displease many.

Australian media reports the New South Wales Cup will be revamped by the end of 2017 to a Platinum League that will feature 14 teams, two of which will come from New Zealand.

The scrapping of the NYC will be unwelcome news at the Warriors headquarters as they've won the competition three times.

However the boss of the Warriors Jim Doyle is playing down claims of big changes to the face of rugby league.

"I do believe there will still be a 20s but what they'll do is move the 20s to a state based competition."

Richardson will also table a proposal to have a rookie draft in 2018 and reduced five-day turnarounds between matches.
