The Golden State Warriors have fought back from the brink of elimination to send their western conference NBA finals series to a game seven.

They've beaten the Oklahoma City Thunder 108-101 on the road, after trailing by seven points in the final quarter and 13 at one stage to level the series at 3-all after being 3-1 down.

Klay Thompson scored 41 points for the Warriors including 19 in the final quarter alone when the Thunder could only manage 18 points.

Thunder coach Billy Donovan says his team failed to close out the game.

He says they were outplayed down the stretch on defence and offence.

Game seven is on Tuesday.
