The NRL has docked the Parramatta Eels all 2016 competition points and fined them $1 million dollars for rorting the salary cap.

Preliminary findings by the NRL estimate the club is almost $600,000 over the salary cap, and will only earn points again when it makes changes to comply with the cap.

The Eels have also lost their Auckland Nines title and four administrators have been issued notices, to show cause why their registration shouldn't be cancelled.

The competition has stressed that these findings are preliminary, and will only make a final ruling once the club's responses have been considered.
