There'll be no turkey carved at the Wellington Phoenix Christmas table.

The Phoenix have travelled across the Tasman today for tomorrow night's A-League match against Adelaide United.

Assistant coach Chris Greenacre says they won't change from their routines, even for the special day.

"It'll just be our usual pre match dinners and pre evening meal and then probably going over some of the footage that we've prepared for the players."

Mr Greenacre said the players are philosophical about spending Christmas away from home.

"We're leaving our families behind for Christmas but it's part of the job in a professional environment and if that's what it takes to try and get a result, so be it."

The Phoenix will stay across the Tasman for their New Year's Eve match against Central Coast.
