Sonny Bill Williams' All Blacks Sevens career may be shortlived if the Sydney Roosters have their way.

The Daily Telegraph reports the Roosters are offering Williams a lucrative lifetime NRL contract to start with this year's NRL season.

The Roosters are left with a spare $1.5 million dollars in the salary cap with Michael Jennings' departure adn the likely indefinite suspension of Mitchell Pearce.

The Telegraph claims Williams' agent Khoder Nasser has met with Roosters management, with a two year deal being discussed that also includes an eventual club ambassador role.

The Roosters would have to directly approach New Zealand Rugby to secure a release of Williams before the Rugby Sevens at the Rio Olympics.
