Sir Gordon Tietjens is adamant he's got the balance right between proven Sevens specialists and fifteen-a-side converts for the Wellington leg of the World Series.

Ardie Savea and Augustine Pulu have played for New Zealand before but have focused on the longer form of the game in recent years, while Sonny Bill Williams will make his debut.

Tietjens says Savea is one of their biggest threats.

"When he played for me back in 2012 he was outstanding. I think he's a better footballer now. He understands the game, he understands the culture, he understands the hard work needed to be part of this team."

Tietjens says he has no concerns over the fitness of the Super Rugby players in his squad.

The Wellington tournament is this weekend.
