Sonny Bill Williams is tipped to return to France on a short-term contract after the Rio Olympics.

L'Equipe is reporting that the All Blacks' two-time world cup winner is seeking a deal in France for the 2016/17 season, which would allow him to head back to New Zealand in time for the British and Irish Lions tour in June next year.

Williams' manager Khoder Nasser has met with Toulon owner Mourad Boudjellal, and the Montpellier club is also an option.

Boudjellal said he has no idea whether Williams is going to come or not and he can only confirm that he has lots of choices.

He said if it is just about the money, then he won't be coming to Toulon, but if it's a love story, he will find his way back to Toulon.

Sonny Bill Williams played for Toulon after leaving the Bulldogs in 2008.
