Sigmund Given Captaincy After Durante Injured

The Wellington Phoenix will have a new captain for their first road trip of the A-League season.

Ben Sigmund will lead the team in Sunday's match against the Glory in Perth, with Andrew Durante ruled out with a calf injury.

Phoenix coach Ernie Merrick says Durante has a severe haematoma.

"There's a lot of bleeding in his calf, they've drained a lot of it, but he's going to be out 3 weeks, maybe 4 weeks it's a pretty bad injury."

Ernie Merrick says Manny Muscat is likely to partner Sigmund at centre back, as they did when Durante was forced off in their season-opener.
