Sir Gordon Tietjens has one hope for the opening day of the Wellington Sevens, beyond the results.

The All Blacks Sevens suffered an horrendous injury toll in the first two tournaments in Dubai and South Africa.

This time around they can call on 15s players Sonny Bill Williams, Ardie Savea and Augustine Pulu.

Tietjens says the game has become a battle of attrition and he realised that watching the two sides line up for the final of the last tournament.

"I just hope we can get through day one and going right into day two with a minimal amount of injuries."
